STREETS OF STEEL: The SideScrollin' Beat'em Up Boardgame

Created by Wild Power Games

A generation ago, Steel City was a shining beacon of cooperation, peace and prosperity. Disaster struck, and now, Steel City is a mere shadow of its former glory. Tired and fed up, a few brave Steel City heroes have banded together to stem the tide of carnage. YOU are one of those heroes. YOU will clean up these STREETS OF STEEL.

Howdy.

One thing that we forgot to mention is that Wild Power Games has a small booth at CAPTAINCON this weekend in Rhode Island. Like at PAX Unplugged, we will be bringing some backer packages for those that are in the area and would like to do a pickup.

If you missed the last few updates but are seeing this one, and are thinking, "Hmm, does this mean that the game is shipping?" please check those previous posts. Lots of good info in there.

Thanks and that is all. Cheers-

LUNAR NEW YEAR AND OVERSEAS IMPORTING
over 4 years ago – Tue, Jan 28, 2020 at 12:30:12 AM

Hello everyone-

Though we already posted a January update, we had some noteworthy news that we wanted to share.

TLDR

The games did not make it out to sea by the time the manufacturer left for the Chinese Lunar New Year vacation/shut-down.

Details

For those that are not already aware of the Lunar New Year break, every year, manufacturing comes to a halt in China as factories take extended breaks to celebrate the holiday. Our manufacturer closes from Jan 15 - Feb 10 and. we did not get the games off to sea by the time they left for vacation. The reason was unfortunate, and for the sake of full transparency, here is what happened:

As you may recall, we made this campaign EU, AU, and CA friendly. In order to do that, we need to get our games into those regions so that when they ship to you, the backer, you are not incurring unwanted costs (and instead, we do). Though we have done multiple Kickstarter campaigns, this was our first "overseas friendly" campaign. Though our fulfillment company told us they had facilities in US, UK, AU, and CA, there was a missing piece of information that bit us just as the games were about to ship; the fulfillment house is not, in fact, an importer of products for AU and EU. They simply have facilities there. Basically, this means that though we have a destination to house and ship the games, there is no way to import them. There is no importer/consignee in that region.

Thus, we missed our cutoff and the manufacturer went away for a month.

For the past 2 weeks, we have been working to find proper importers for those regions. We are currently in conversations with importers in AU and EU and hope for a full resolution to the problem by the 10th of Feb so that we can get those games to backers.

We remain optimistic that this will work out quickly and on the manufacturing side, we are assured that the games are in cartons and ready to be shipped.

More info as we get it-

2020, PAX UNPLUGGED, GAMES COMING FROM MANUFACTURER & MORE
over 4 years ago – Mon, Jan 06, 2020 at 12:09:25 PM

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

Wild Power Games had a big end-of-year and the next couple of months should prove to be even bigger.

First, let’s talk about PAX Unplugged. We mentioned in the last update that we would be receiving a small shipment of Streets Of Steel to deliver to backers in-person and to sell a small number at retail since we had paid so much for the booth. Well, the convention went GREAT. We met up with 10-20 backers and had some nice in-person conversations while delivering their games. There were hundreds of demos played at our booth and people had a blast. Luckily, in anticipation of people's interest in SOS, we had a 10'x20' booth this year, with 6-8 Wild Power Games demo-ers there to play with visitors at all times, and they were busy

All SIX demo stations were packed all day.

A "quiet" moment at the Wild Power Games booth:

Now, let’s talk about the most important news - the delivery of our games from the manufacturer. We had a good meeting with our manufacturer while at PAX Unplugged (one of the benefits of these conventions) and they promised to ship the remainder of the games to us by January 15th, the latest. TAT IS JUST 10 DAYS AWAY! This is obviously much later than we had originally hoped but it is promising that they will beat the Lunar New Year holiday when manufacturing really shuts down in China. This means that we can potentially begin shipping SOS to you all in February. Fingers crossed!

There is a huge sense of relief and anticipation here now, knowing that people loved Streets Of Steel and the games are so close to getting to us all. We will keep you posted on the arrival dates of the final shipment.

Have a great start to 2020!

Backerkit Lockdown Approaching!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Nov 18, 2019 at 07:10:17 PM

Hello friends!

It seems our journey is coming to its end. The last of the pre-production elements have arrived and have been approved. For those keeping track, they are final plastic minis, plastic minis trays, black vacuum formed insert/tray for all game boxes, color and translucent bases for all character standups and minis, hot foil on Kickstarter Exclusive cards and the final colors and shapes for the quarters.

Pics will follow... but first let us talk about lockdown. We will be closing Backerkit and charging any remaining funds to cards this Wednesday night (appx 8PM EST). If you would like to change your address or get any upgrades with your backer discounts, please do so in the next couple of days.

Our calendar after that is some form of:

  • receive advanced drop shipment of games for PAX Unplugged
  • Go to PAX Unplugged
  • receive the normal, over-sea shipment of the remainder of the game assets and send it to the fulfillment house.
  • Ship games to YOU!

We have been warned by our new Freight Forwarding company that receiving shipments between Thanksgiving and New Years is always chaotic and clogged. At this time, we have no idea what date they will make it to our facility but will keep you posted.

PICTURES!

This gif does not do the hot foil justice. It looks amazing IRL.

DICE - QUARTERS - PINS
over 4 years ago – Sun, Oct 27, 2019 at 07:30:28 PM

Happy October!

Monthly Update time! Over the past few weeks, after the paper pre-pro bits came in arrived, some of the plastic and metal parts have popped in. Super exciting! Here are some things that happened this month:

DICE

The dice came in! While it was great to see them here and finally chuck some real game dice, the colors were wrong. This was especially apparent when comparing, say,  elements like the KICK dice to the KICK iconography in the cards and such. The manufacturer did a nice job matching some of the Pantones, but others were off.  In order to keep the process moving, we used our Pantone book to match paper to plastic, then look at the printed paper materials to find matching colors, and chose new Pantones. The purple for KICK needs to be darker than it is, and the yellow needs to be less "powdery" and more rich and golden. Red looked great. In order to expedite manufacturing, we will not be receiving a second wave of samples.

QUARTERS

These are basically good to go, but the manufacturer made them bronze-colored instead of silver… like real, American quarters. This is an easy fix and they are on it. In order to expedite manufacturing, we will not be receiving a second wave of samples of these either.

Nice lookin' but the wrong color :/

ENAMEL PINS

Similar story to the dice. They generally look great, but there are some colors on the SLURPO that are not right. We used the Pantone book and picked new colors and we will not be receiving a second wave of samples.

Giphy is making the colors here really desaturated... they look MUCH nicer IRL.

FUTURE DISCOUNT FOR YOU

Not sure if this was mentioned in the past, but when you receive your game, you will notice that in the punchboard, there is a 5 percent discount token for you to use on future convention purchases. Hopefully, we will get to see you at a convention in the future!

That is all for now. Enjoy your Halloween, Samhain, or any other Fall festivities that you have planned.
